5GAA Statement on FCC Chairman’s Draft Rules for the 5.9 GHz Band
While the 5G Automotive Association greatly appreciates the FCC’s recognition of C-V2X and the steps FCC Chairman Pai has taken to support this state-of-the-art wireless safety technology, the transition in the upper 30 MHz should not delay availability of C-V2X that automakers are ready to deploy.
We are also concerned about the potential for harmful interference from Wi-Fi devices allowed to use the lower portion of the 5.9 GHz band under the proposal. We look forward to reviewing the Chairman’s draft order and working with stakeholders in the near future to address any concerns.
