5GAA welcomes the 5G Strategic Deployment Agenda for Connected and Automated Mobility on Roads
The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) releases the 5G Strategic Deployment Agenda for Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) on Roads
The 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) welcomes the publication of the 5G Strategic Deployment Agenda for Connected and Automated Mobility on Roads (5G SDA for CAM). The 5G SDA for CAM provides guidance to stakeholders involved in the deployment and use of 5G for CAM systems on roads. This rich and diversified ecosystem includes mobile network operators, tower companies, telecom vendors, road operators, as well as vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) and their tier1/tier2 automotive suppliers.
The SDA outlines the implementation strategy for the deployment of 5G connectivity infrastructures along the major European road transport networks (TEN-T corridors), or “5G corridors”,enabling advanced CAM use cases and 5G commercial services with uninterrupted coverage and seamless service provision at border crossing areas.
Further guidance is provided on investment, definition of cooperation models and deployment roadmaps that will facilitate the roll-out of six service categories: Road CAM services, Logistics, Digital Twins, Connected Passenger Services, Software-defined Vehicles and Associated vertical services.
Approved by the SNS JU Governing Board, the 5G SDA for CAM on roads aligns with the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) mission to coordinate pan-European 5G corridors and guide the second Connected Europe Facility programme, Digital Part (CEF2 Digital).
In that respect, the5G SDA builds on best practices and lessons learnt from the first waves of 5G corridor deployment projects co-funded under the second Connecting Europe Facility programme, Digital Part (CEF Digital), between 2022 and 2025, involving 31 works and study projects.
