5GAA Workshop – ‘Gearing Towards Advanced V2X Use Cases: the impact of ETSI Release 2 standards’
On 11 September, the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) will host its workshop ‘Gearing Towards Advanced V2X Use Cases: the impact of ETSI Release 2 standards’ at the ETSI C-V2X Plugtests hosted by DEKRA with the support of the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association.
During this half-day workshop, 5GAA aims to convene key players in the C-V2X ecosystem. The workshop will feature presentations and discussions on the impact of ETSI Release 2 standards, offering insights into the future of C-V2X for the automotive industry. The technical agenda will highlight advancements in 5G-V2X Direct, ETSI Release 2 messages, and security.
With five presentations followed by an open discussion, ecosystem stakeholders will have the opportunity to discuss the impact of ETSI Release 2 standards – including Collective Perception Services (CPS) and Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs).

5GAA Conference: France 2030 & Beyond: Accelerating Connected Mobility
On 15 May 2025, the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) will host a full day of high-level discussions and real-world demonstrations in Paris, spotlighting the latest V2X innovations in France and across Europe.

Study on integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) for C-V2X application
The Work Item “Study on Integrated Sensing and Communication for C-V2X Application” aims to discuss the integration of sensing and communication systems into one system from an automotive perspective. The Work Item aims to identify key features relevant for the realization of the selected automotive use cases.
The Technical Report outlines the objectives and goals of the work item, implementation descriptions of automotive use cases with ISAC and key technology trends to facilitate the application of ISAC in C-V2X scenarios. The objectives of the work item are thus:
Analysis of ISAC use cases and ISAC concept development
- Identify applicable ISAC use cases for connected mobility from 5GAA, academia, standards organizations (SDO) such as 3GPP SA1, etc.
- Define criteria/rationales to select a subset of use cases.
- Update use cases to identify the value and impact of ISAC technologies.
- Derive sensing requirements for selected use cases.
- Establish quantitative general metrics to evaluate and measure the performance of ISAC solutions to guide research and standardization.
- Describe an ISAC concept based on existing technologies in the automotive sector/field.
Study possible ISAC technology trends
- Do state-of-the-art study of the evolution and technology trends of new ISAC features in research and SDOs (e.g. 3GPP, ETSI) and analyze the potential impact on both communication and sensing systems from the automotive
perspective. - Analyze ISAC technology features relevant for the identified automotive use cases

5GAA to Host High-Level Conference and Live Demos in Paris
On 15 May 2025, the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) will host a full day of high-level discussions and real-world demonstrations in Paris, spotlighting the latest V2X innovations in France and across Europe.
Key Topics
The day will begin with the “France 2030 & Beyond: Accelerating Connected Mobility” conference at La Défense. This conference will gather key industry leaders, policymakers, and regulatory experts to discuss the future of V2X in France and Europe, focusing on cooperative, connected, and automated mobility (CCAM).
Discussions will focus on accelerating the market deployment of CCAM technologies and the key enablers needed for future mobility. Highlights include expert panels on what the automotive industry needs to scale connected mobility services and the role of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) in delivering large-scale, reliable V2X solutions.
Experience the Technology
In the afternoon, participants will travel to Paris-Saclay, to experience first-hand the latest C-V2X innovations by 5GAA members in the Paris Télécom University area:
- First-ever demonstration of NTN technology applications for the automotive sector, allowing for seamless ubiquitous connectivity.
- Vehicle-to-Network (V2N) services showcase for Vulnerable Road Users’ protection at intersections and safety alerts between vehicles in case of hard braking ahead, toemphasize the market readiness and fast-scaling potential of network-based technologies.
- First-ever on-road 5G-V2X Direct (3GPP Release 16) demonstration of sensor-sharing between vehicles for Vulnerable Road Users (VRU) detection at an obstructed intersection, on-road and in real-traffic conditions.
Stay tuned for more information, event highlights and key takeaways, which will be shared on the 5GAA website and social media following the conference!
