Webinar: Talking Cars: Field Test Results Comparing DSRC & C-V2X Technology

Webinar: Talking Cars: Field Test Results Comparing DSRC & C-V2X Technology

REGISTER HERE FOR THE WEBINAR

According to World Health Organization figures, more than 1.2 million casualties occur globally as a result of traffic incidents. As vehicles add more sensors to improve safety and advance the readiness of automated driving, vehicle-to-everything communications (V2X) are expected to significantly enhance road safety. As a result, global governments and industry (automotive and telecom) are carefully evaluating two different V2X technologies: IEEE 802.11p-based radio DSRC/ITS-G5 and 3GPP-based C-V2X. 802.11p is an older radio technology, based on specifications dating to 1999, and has been researched over the past decade, whereas C-V2X is a newer radio technology benefiting from many advances in communications. This 5GAA-sponsored webinar will review how each of the technologies performed in an apples-to-apples comparison, executed by Ford and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc in US lab and field testing.

This webinar will review:

1.The reliability, communication range and latency of each V2X technology under the same test conditions

2.  Performance comparison in congested environments

3. Resiliency of each technology to adverse deployment conditions, including interference

Speakers:

Steve Bell, Senior Analyst, Heavy Reading
Maxime Flament, CTO, 5GAA
Gautam Savarkar, Senior Director, Engineering, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc
Ivan Vukovic, Technical Specialist, Ford Motor Company

MEC System Interoperability and Test Framework

MEC System Interoperability and Test Framework

The present document is continuing the previous work from 5GAA MEC4AUTO studies and reports. The previous work identified a set of possible Use Cases and related KPI’s for evaluating MEC performance. In this document we take a more detailed look at the MEC deployment architecture and the related interoperability and testing issues. Also, the selection of Use Cases and KPI’s is reviewed and updated, and the current status of industry/standards activities for interoperability and testing is also updated.

F2F Meeting, Conference and 5GAA Demonstrations – Turin, Italy

F2F Meeting, Conference and 5GAA Demonstrations – Turin, Italy

The 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) has the pleasure to announce “The 5G Path of Vehicle-to-Everything Communication: From Local to Global” Conference, Live Demonstrations and Press Event on 14 November 2019 in Turin, Italy.

Conference | Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile

The conference aims at fostering the dialogue between high-level institutional and industry stakeholders on current challenges in the field of connected and automated mobility and provide solutions by presenting the capabilities and deployment models of the C-V2X technology. For this edition, we are glad to announce that we will be welcoming top profiles such as Prof. Vito Mauro, Italian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Elisabetta Romano, TIM CTIO, as well as Paola Pisano, Italian Minister for Innovation and Digitalisation.

Live Demonstrations | Lingotto & Open Roads

In the afternoon, conference participants will have the opportunity to join a demonstration of C-V2X technology scenarios organised by 5GAA members Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), Audi, Marelli, TIM (Telecom Italia), Vodafone and Ericsson, who will showcase the current state of C-V2X and the future of 5G technology.

Press Event | Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile

As an independent side event to the conference, 5GAA is organising a press gathering with a select group of journalists for them to witness key technology capabilities during six live demos taking place in the streets of Turin and on the Lingotto track. The press demonstrations will showcase how C-V2X is poised to offer significant improvements in road safety and how it will support future autonomous vehicles, lessen traffic congestion and reduce CO2 emissions.

Cybersecurity for Edge Computing

Cybersecurity for Edge Computing

This gMEC4AUTO Technical Report (TR) studies cybersecurity aspects related to MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) deployments in Multi-MNO, Multi-OEM and multivendor environments.

Starting from an analysis of the threats in this gMEC4AUTO architecture (from security, privacy and trust perspectives), it provides an overview of Mitigation Strategies, as a toolbox of solutions available from standards or from industry-led consolidated implementations, by finally assessing them in terms of suitability from a gMEC4AUTO perspective (MEC in Multi-MNO, Multi-OEM and multivendor environments).
