Online Session – Enhancing Public Trust: Misbehaviour Detection and Remediation in V2X Networks
The 5G Automotive Association is pleased to invite you to our online session, “Enhancing Public Trust: Misbehaviour Detection and Remediation in V2X Networks“.
Misbehaviour detection in connected vehicles refers to the identification of transmitted data which is either wilfully or inadvertently incorrect within the V2X network. 5GAA previously hosted an online session on the intricacies of the Misbehaviour Management System. This upcoming session explores the most recent work done on the operational aspects of misbehaviour detection, specifically the remediation options that will better protect the public and their confidence in V2X.
Maximising the benefit of future satellite communications for automotive
The 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) has published a landmark technical report outlining a clear vision for integrating Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) as a complementary layer to Terrestrial Networks (TN), enhancing coverage and services for connected vehicles.
The report presents a comprehensive roadmap for NTN deployment, identifying key phases for narrowband, wideband, and broadband data rates. It also proposes specific antenna parameters for automotive NTN user equipment, optimising performance and cost-effectiveness. Key recommendations from the report include alignment with global mobile standards, deployment of Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellations, and focus on optimising user terminal parameters and costs.
By integrating NTN connectivity, the automotive and telecommunications industries can work together to realise the vision of space-connected vehicles on our roads.

5GAA Welcomes Release of Updated U.S. DOT Deployment Plan for Lifesaving V2X Technologies
WASHINGTON, D.C., August 16, 2024 – The 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) welcomes the publication of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s updated V2X Deployment Plan and USDOT’s continuing commitment to the deployment of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications technologies on America’s roads.
The National V2X Deployment Plan outlines USDOT’s vision and specific milestones for the deployment of V2X. Cellular-vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) technology allows cars, trucks and other vehicles to send important safety alerts with one another, with road infrastructure and with vulnerable road users securely and in real-time, with two complementary transmission modes (direct and mobile network communications).
“Today’s release establishes clear objectives for future public and private investments in V2X in U.S. road transportation networks,” said John F. Kwant, Executive Director, Americas, for 5GAA. “V2X technologies are key to enabling the deployment of connected motor vehicles and roadside infrastructure that can sharply reduce road fatalities, a key goal of the National Road Safety Strategy. “
Unlocking the full potential of V2X technologies requires as many road users, traffic signals and other traffic infrastructure as possible to be able to seamlessly communicate with one another and share information with a broader network. 5GAA believes that this requires the deployment to be nationwide, secure and interoperable, provide solutions for existing vehicles as well as new vehicles, and include interfaces for both C-V2X direct and network communications modes (cellular and non-terrestrial networks).

5G-V2X Direct Communication Evaluation Approach: An Automotive Analysis
This White Paper is considering realistic evaluation assumptions based on a common understanding between both the automotive industry and 5G-V2X technology vendors. Fifth-generation Vehicle-to-Everything (5G-V2X) technology, including the new direct communications radio technology (also called NR V2X), is moving toward deployment – starting in Europe with consensus among automotive OEMs, suppliers, and vendors.
To prepare for a massive deployment, an evaluation of NR V2X technology is indeed needed. Such an evaluation needs to be realistic enough to cope with automotive requirements, use cases, and system limitations (considering, at least, the first environment for implementation).
