Special Interest Session: “From data to deployment: accelerating CCAM and C-ITS through connectivity and collaboration”
5GAA is organising the Special Interest Session “From data to deployment: accelerating CCAM and C-ITS through connectivity and collaboration”, as part of the ITS European Congress Technical Program on 27 April in Istanbul.
The session will take place on Monday, 27 April from 14.00 to 15.00 (local time) in room ÜSKÜDAR 1.
Building on 5GAA’s 2025 Special Interest Session in Seville on the use of vehicle data for road operations and safety, the session will explore how connected and cooperative vehicle technologies are moving from data-driven pilots to large-scale CCAM and (C-)ITS deployment across Europe.
Speakers from the automotive sector Volkswagen’s Razvan Racu AUMOVIO’s David Gonzalez Gonzalez, and BeMobile’s Bart Lannoo, alongside European policymaker Erik Vrijens (Department of Vehicles and Digital Infrastructure, Netherlands), will showcase how cooperation across industries is turning connectivity into tangible societal benefits, from safer roads to more efficient transport networks.
The discussion will feature practical examples such as Safety-Related Traffic Information (SRTI) and Vulnerable Road User (VRU) protection, highlighting how these applications are being integrated into wider safety frameworks, including Euro NCAP’s roadmap.
The panel will also examine how advanced connectivity is enabling new mobility services — such as next-generation eCall and V2X-enabled tolling and payments — that make transport more user-centred, efficient, and responsive to citizens’ needs.
Strategic Future Session: “From data to deployment: accelerating CCAM and C-ITS through connectivity and collaboration”
Moreover, together with OneG6, 5GAA is also co-hosting the session “6G technologies for improving road efficiency, sustainability and safety”, on Wednesday, 29 April from 14:00 to 15:00 (local time) in room BEYLERBEYI 2.
The session will feature 5GAA’s Director General Christof Schmidt, our CTO Maxime Flament, and Board Member Markus Dillinger (Huawei), alongside AUMOVIO’s David Gonzalez Gonzalez and ERTICO’s Ralf Willenbrock.
This Strategic Future Session on 6G will elaborate on the expected improvements for a safer, more sustainable and more efficient road traffic. New technical 6G enablers like ISAC and AI will help to detect critical traffic situations and to improve ADAS, vehicle automation functions and VRU protection. Interworking and interfaces between vehicle / VRU AI agents and network AI agents need to be defined. The session will also present the first ISAC V2X trial results, which have identified the required KPIs for road sensing scenarios addressing safety.
