5GAA and one6G Sign Letter of Intent to Strengthen Collaboration Towards 6G-Enabled Connected Mobility

The 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) and the one6G Association have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to establish a framework for closer collaboration on next-generation wireless technologies and their application to connected and automated mobility.

The agreement, concluded in December 2025, sets the basis for closer interaction between the two organisations as the wireless ecosystem progresses. By joining forces, 5GAA and one6G aim to align their expertise across telecommunications, automotive, and digital technologies to address societal and industrial needs for safer, more efficient, and more sustainable transportation systems.

As part of the LoI, 5GAA and one6G 5GAA and one6G intend to cooperate across a range of strategic technology areas expected to play a central role in future 6G systems and services, including:

  • Digital twin and metaverse
  • Distributed/Federated AI
  • Integrated Sensing and Communication
  • Non-terrestrial Networks
  • 6G empowered Robotics
  • Cooperative, Connected, and Automated Mobility
  • Agentic AI-based Mobile Communication Systems

By strengthening alignment between the automotive and telecommunications communities at an early stage of 6G development, 5GAA and one6G aim to contribute to interoperable, resilient, and future-ready communication technologies that will underpin connected, cooperative, and automated mobility in the coming decade.
